Making heads or tails of my SHOPPING.com feed optimization report 10/19/2010

You've received your "Feed Optimization Report" from Shopping.com. What does it mean? How do I interpret this information?

A very important fact to remember is even if your products are in the Yellow or Orange areas, they are still live on Shopping.com. The optimization report from Shopping.com is primarily about improvements and suggestions. Most of these involve categorization and including as many product features (attributes) as you can.

In order to receive your Shopping.com report, click the "see offers" links in the detailed reports column for any row in which you have products. This takes you to a downloadable Excel file with information for your products. Then, visit this info page from Shopping.com for more information on the suggestion / error codes.

A very common situation is having products that Shopping.com has listed as "partially findable" A more frequent is "categorized but missing left-nav-attributes". This just means there are additional attributes you could be displaying for your products in Shopping.com's listings. An example might include "megapixels" if you sell cameras, fabric, apparel or furniture. If you don't include these attributes in your data feed, your products will not be included in the results if a shopper filters based on this criteria. This is done in Shopping.com's "left-nav" search area. It is important to note your products will STILL BE LISTED in Shopping.com's search even without including every one of Shopping.com's "left-nav" attributes or search filters in your feed.
